Venus On Neptune

Open Edition

After photographing the Milky Way I drove down to Assateague Island, Maryland. I drove down to the off road vehicle path and parked at the base. It was a midsummer night around 3:30am and it was still warm though a nice breeze was blowing in off the ocean. As the Milky Way set Venus, the only light for the scene, was rising in the eastern skies. Sparky and I left the car and walked out onto the beach through the sandy dunes path. Eventually we plopped down on the beach just yards from the waves. I set up my camera and tripod and proceeded to frame a shot. Sparky began to dig in the sand while I took a series of exposures for the sky and land. Venus shown off the ocean and the Pleiades were high in the sky while the unrelenting, warm breeze blew in. After capturing the shot I just sat under the stars for a while. The only sound was the waves crashing. Eventually I would have to leave, but for a while I just enjoyed the zen of the experience.
