The Long Shadow Of Winter

This shot was taken during a real down period of my life. I really feel like the desolate nature of this image reflects where I was at the time. I trudged through the deep snow in the Prettyboy Reservoir down to the boat launch where I saw both the leading line of the fence and the half buried canoe. It was so cold the entire reservoir was frozen over and buried in a lot of snow. The wind was blowing hard making it even colder. As I lined up my shot I realized the wind was blowing the snow across the reservoir making a snow tornado. I timed things carefully so as to capture this snow tornado. I trudged back up out of the boat launch in the knee deep snow and back to the warmth of the car.
