This is my favorite image from the Hoh Rainforest in Olympic National Park. I simply fell in love with all the greens and mosses. This tree and the way it is lifted out of the soil fascinates me. I believe this is an example of a nurse log where a tree died and out of its nutrients grew another tree. The root system is elevated because it grew around the log that eventually rotted all the way and disappeared. This image is shows mother natures tenacity.
