Bass Harbor Red was a shot that I had in mind for my first trip to Acadia National Park, Maine. I found the best viewpoint early in the afternoon and staked out my spot on the rocks hoping the tide did not push me away. For the longest time it looked like I was going to get no evening color, in fact several photographers packed up and left. I stayed firm hoping for the best. Then suddenly, for a total of about five minutes the clouds lit up in an electric pink. And as suddenly as the color came it went. And then it started pouring down rain as I retreated to the car, but not before I got an image even better than the one I had in my head.
