Balanced Rock Dusk

Arches National Park remains one of my fondest memories from the Southwest. The switchbacks going almost straight up while driving up into the park are unforgettable. When I had scouted out this location earlier in the day I knew Balanced Rock was where I wanted to be come sunset. Now I needed the sky to cooperate with me. As I walked around Balanced Rock looking up I was taken in by just how high this feature was, it simply towered over the local landscape. But finally the clouds began to light up and it was action time! The skies put on quite the show that evening, I could not have asked for anything more. Shooting with my favorite wide angle lens I was able to fit both Balanced Rock and its companion along with a generous helping of sky. I slowly wandered back to my rental car safe in the knowledge that Arches National Park had just put on quite the show for me!
